In this month’s edition we dig deeper into our
GWG (Green Week Gibraltar) arrangements, we
share how our ideas are taking shape and what
this major event is all about. GWG will provide our
community with credible sustainable alternatives,
provide educational talks in different locations,
share how our world is evolving and how we can
all adapt, without major inconveniences of course.
How we can make Gibraltar an amazing place to
live by improving air quality, mental health and our
surroundings.
We’ve all been away from Gibraltar at one time

or another and seen how open spaces, fresh air and
greenery really clears the mind and improves our
headspace.
Imagine Gibraltar being exactly that.
We have become so dependent on vehicles that
we have allowed them to clutter our areas. Take a
look around and just imagine Gibraltar with no vehi-
cles. How gorgeous would it be. I know, an impossi-
bility as people need to get around, but do they have
to be as prominent as they are? Is there no other
way?
Pleasant walking areas, bicycle lanes throughout
Gibraltar to go with the family and areas to just chill…

Peaceful, clean and respectful that’s the place to be.
A great article in this month’s edition is Changing
Cities from our amazing Sarah. This is well worth a
read. It explains how major cities have and continue
to evolve to create these pleasant efficient transport
methods. Eliminating car spaces to provide bicycle
lanes, banning cars from city centers, all done to pro-
mote alternative sustainable transport.
I find it crazy that 44% of people living in Denmark
do NOT own a car (… 44%! )
whilst we in Gibraltar own an average of 2 cars
per household… what’s going on?!

The world is in crisis and we have a responsibility
to help. We all have a role to play and have a respon-
sibility for our future generations to keep it as livable
as possible, this is not a drill.
Let’s join the rest of the world. Heck! Let’s be the
leaders in this and have media write about Gibraltar
and how we became Carbon Neutral by being positi-
ve and acceptable to change.
Not only CAN this be done, it MUST be done.
