The Hon . Christian Santos , Gibraltar ’ s Minister for Equality , Employment , Culture , and Tourism , participated in the Travel Weekly Sustainability Summit hosted by Google in London , coinciding with COP29 . Minister Santos joined a high-profile panel alongside representatives from Greece , Switzerland , and Spain to discuss sustainability in tourism destinations , presenting Gibraltar ’ s innovative infrastructure projects and future-focused planning efforts .
The summit also featured discussions on sustainable practices in air travel and cruises , led by easyJet Holidays and the Cruise Lines International
Association ( CLIA ). The event emphasized industry collaboration to promote environmentally responsible tourism .
Minister Santos was accompanied by Dr . Liesl Mesilio , Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Environment , and Tracey Poggio , the Gibraltar Tourist Board ’ s UK Head of Media and Marketing .
Following the summit , Minister Santos reaffirmed Gibraltar ’ s dedication to sustainable tourism , stating , “ Sustainable practice is central to our future planning . It ’ s essential for Gibraltar to showcase its progress and align with industry partners committed to responsible tourism .”
