ClimACT , initiated nearly five years ago , initially under the European-funded ClimACT project managed by the University of Gibraltar , has evolved into ClimACT Schools Gibraltar . This movement involves educators from local schools , the advisory team , the Department of the Environment , Sustainability and Climate Change , the University of Gibraltar , and local NGOs . ClimACT Schools is committed to empowering teachers and educating children about sustainable practices related to climate change and the conservation of our natural environment . The awards structure , developed through extensive meetings and workshops , classifies schools into Bronze , Silver , Gold , and Diamond categories based on credits gained from various projects , policies , and environmental initiatives .
Educators within ClimACT Schools are dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that minimizes anxiety and channels positive energy for change . By facilitating discussions and acknowledging students ' concerns about climate change , educators guide children toward constructive solutions . The curriculum emphasizes age-appropriate information , critical thinking , and teamwork , aiming to highlight successes and positive changes resulting from collective efforts . The awards ceremony becomes a celebration of the positive changes that schools have been part of , reinforcing the idea that individual and collective actions make a difference .
As Gibraltar ' s schools continue to contribute to environmental awareness , we conclude with a call to action , urging everyone to adopt a sustainable mindset in their daily lives . The event stands as a testament to the dedication of educators , students ,
and the community at large in shaping a greener and more environmentally conscious future .
