Actor Pete Postlethwaite plays the role of an archivist from the future , who keeps the remains of humanity in his offshore tower . He spends his time screening videos recorded from 2008 to 2055 to understand how we have come to the degradation of his world only to ask himself one terrible question : Why haven ’ t we done anything to prevent it ?

The landmark gallery opening at the Science Museum next year will delve into how the world can undergo the fastest energy transition in history to curb climate change .
The exhibition will look at the latest climate science and explore the energy revolution

required to cut global fossil fuel emissions and limit global warming to around 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels .
The free gallery will feature a range of interactive and digital storytelling techniques to examine past and future energy revolutions under four thematic sections ; Alternative Futures , Future Planet , Future Living and Future Energy and Power . Each section will offer visitors a different lens through which to consider this century ’ s defining challenge .
