As she entered Cordoba Street, she saw Sister Ana by the Cloister of the Orange Trees. This little girl, again with her fasting, spends hours gazing at the frescoes of Mother Mary. The paintings praise the Virgin for being the only female figure given consideration in the New Testament and show images of her as morning star, health of the sick, ivory tower or house of gold. Anita has a good hand for healing, when a sister suffers migraines or menstrual pain, she is always ready to smear some ointment and put her hand on her until the ailment disappears. To her, however, the pain does not weigh her down and she is beginning to mortify her body with a cilice. She says that in this way she perfects her soul. Besides, she has the gift of premonition and it is not the first time that two sisters have seen her in different places at the same time. We’ ve gotten used to it, but at first, we thought someone was lying. The clucking was unbearable, with everyone talking at the same time we couldn’ t figure out what was going on.
When there is a dispute, which there are, we go to St. Catherine, our patroness, to enlighten us and give us peace. With her and the Virgin Mary we are all at one, both are our example. Intelligent women, dedicated to a cause, their cause. Convinced women. Sensible and sensitive women. Givers of life, healers. Women who are feared for their strength and perseverance. For their courage and self-confidence. For having dreams, for fulfilling them. For knowing they are crazy and for not letting themselves be wound up.
Sister Juana continues with her conversations with the Child God and does not keep silent even during the readings in the Patio del Silencio. Al entrar en la calle Córdoba ve a Sor Ana por el Claustro de los Naranjos. Esta niña, otra vez con sus ayunos, se pasa las horas mirando los frescos de la Madre María. Las pinturas alaban a la Virgen por ser la única figura femenina a la que se le da consideración en el Nuevo Testamento y muestran imágenes de ella como estrella de la mañana, salud de los enfermos, torre de marfil o casa de oro. Anita tiene buena mano para curar, cuando alguna hermana sufre migrañas o dolor menstrual ella siempre está dispuesta a untarle algún ungüento y ponerle la mano hasta que el mal desaparece. A ella, sin embargo, el dolor no le pesa y está empezando a mortificar su cuerpo con un cilicio. Dice que así perfecciona su alma. Además tiene el don de la premonición y no es la primera vez que dos hermanas la han visto en lugares diferentes a la misma vez. Ya nos hemos acostumbrado, pero al principio pensábamos que alguien mentía. El cacareo era insoportable, con todas hablando a la vez no conseguíamos descubrir el suceso.
Cuando hay alguna disputa, que las hay, acudimos a Santa Catalina, nuestra patrona, para que nos ilumine y administre paz. Con ella y con la Virgen María estamos todas a una, ambas son nuestro ejemplo. Mujeres inteligentes, entregadas a una causa, su causa. Mujeres convencidas. Mujeres sensibles y sensitivas. Dadoras de vida, sanadoras. Mujeres a las que se les teme por su fuerza y su perseverancia. Por su valentía y seguridad en sí mismas. Por tener sueños, por cumplirlos. Por saberse locas y no dejarse dar cuerda.
Sor Juana sigue con sus conversaciones con el Niño Dios y no calla ni durante las lecturas en el Patio del Silencio. Llegó al monasterio siendo niña, la trajo un misionero porque el Señor se lo manifestó en sueños y a pesar de ser pobre, vino acompañada por una lucida procesión y por cantes y bailes que hicieron muy festiva su entrada. A ella al menos no le da por dejar de comer, ha decidido dejar de lavarse una de las dos veces al año que tenemos permiso, según los preceptos de la Orden.
