Among the most standout achievements are ; the edition of the “ Bird Guide of the Strait of Gibraltar , Los Alcornocales Natural Park and La Janda Region ”, the creation and subsequent management of the “ Madrevieja Environmental Station ” in San Roque together with the CEPSA Foundation , the supervision of work of the Campo de Gibraltar branch of the Gas Pipeline contracted by ENAGAS , the creation and subsequent management of the Ornipark Environmental Education Centre in Huerta Grande in Algeciras , and the training course for unemployed people in the Guadalteba Region in Malaga . You are both specialised in ornithological development , can you tell us about that ?
The development of ornithological tourism was the first idea to be put into practice , hence the name Ornitour , but first it was necessary to place value on this natural resource and for this , we had the support of the Sierra de Grazalema Rural Development Group that allowed us to carry out a comprehensive Ornithological Tourism plan within a protected natural area , first by making an inventory of the birdlife , to then create a dissemination campaign , specific routes , information panels , training courses for ornithological guides and ending with the first bird guide for a protected natural area in Spain which was translated into three languages . A couple of years later , Los Alcornocales Rural Development Group entrusted us to inventory the areas birdlife , leading to the subsequent Guide to Birds of the Strait of Gibraltar , in ambientales , equipamientos públicos , señalizaciones y participación con stands en ferias , espero no dejarme ninguna en el tintero . Dentro de los más emblemáticos tenemos ; la edición de la “ Guía de Aves del Estrecho de Gibraltar , Parque Natural Los Alcornocales y Comarca de la Janda ”, la creación y posterior gestión junto a la Fundación CEPSA de la “ Estación Ambiental Madrevieja ”, en San Roque , la vigilancia de obra del Ramal del Gasoducto Campo de Gibraltar contratado por ENAGAS , la creación y posterior gestión del Centro de Educación Ambiental Ornipark en Huerta Grande , Algeciras y el curso de formación para desempleados en la Comarca de Guadalteba en Málaga . El desarrollo de la actividad del turismo ornitológico fue la primera idea en poner en práctica , de ahí el nombre de Ornitour , pero antes hacía falta poner en valor este recurso natural y para ello , tuvimos el apoyo del Grupo de Desarrollo Rural Sierra de Grazalema y poder así realizar por primera vez un plan integral de Turismo Ornitológico dentro de un espacio natural protegido , primero haciendo un inventariado de la avifauna , para seguir con una campaña de divulgación , rutas específicas , paneles informativos , curso de formación para guías ornitológicos y finalizar con la primera guía de aves de un espacio natural protegido en España , traducida a tres idiomas .
