MontRubí is a family-owned winery established in 1984 , a pioneer in the recovery of indigenous varieties , located in an idyllic setting , a valley in the Alt Penedès , 60 km . away from Barcelona , covered by vineyards , Mediterranean pine , holm oak , olive , and oak forests , where they produce organic high-altitude wines . These wines seek the roots , uniqueness , and value of traditional winemaking , and therefore indigenous grapevarieties are always selected .
MontRubí organic farming aims at protecting the environment as much as possible . The work done in the vines as well as in the winery follows the organic practices as a sign of respect for the habitat and understanding it as one of the main sources to obtain the best quality in each of the wines they produce .
MontRubí í recently went one step further and obtained the Bio and Vegan certification for their wines .
MontRubí wines are produced respecting their ancestors ’ traditions and the innovation of our times , using different techniques depending on the style of wine that want to obtain and looking for each wine ’ s own personality that genuinely reflects the grape with which it is produced and its territory .
The aging of the wines is done in French oak barrels , concrete eggs and artisanal clay amphoras .
