“ Putting out the first edition felt like a mission , one that was very nerve-wracking ”, Vanessa said , remembering the weeks leading up to the launch . “ Even though seeing the first magazine go out was quite stressful , it was completely worth it and rewarding ”.
The first issue included articles promoting several natural sites visited months earlier , including the Natural Parks of the Bahia de Cadiz and the Brena and Marismas of Barbate . Regular collaborators
EBike Gibraltar , The Nautilus Project and Sustainable Gibraltar also appeared in the first edition . Many of the relationships formed in the run-up and launch of OTWO 1 continue to this day .
By the end of 2019 , new connections and collaborations were emerging . In December , OTWO started working with
Mi Moana , a non-profit , ocean-loving organisation founded in Mijas-Costa by mother and daughter team Natasha and Nicky Wegloop . The organisation is doing fantastic work in Andalucía to help protect and rid beaches , oceans and rivers of plastic .
Naturally , 2020 brought its own unique set of surprises and challenges . Ending on a high in 2019 , OTWO was ready to take on 2020 with lots of big plans , but as you all know , we had to make some adjustments just like everyone else .
As the pandemic accelerated and lockdown started , OTWO had to revaluate how to continue releasing the magazine . Due to printing and supply issues and with everyone stuck at home , we had to adapt quickly and consider ways to cut some costs . Ultimately , we decided to continue releasing the magazine but solely as an e-version .
Looking back on those uncertain times , Vanessa said , “ the pandemic put a lot of things on hold , so we had to revisit many of our goals . There were a lot of insecurities , but thankfully we overcame them by going online , and I think we have come out the other end in a good place . Tightening our belts and looking at other ways of communication has led to new things like the OTWO shop and other online opportunities .”

Al recordar aquellos tiempos de incertidumbre , Vanessa afirma que « la pandemia dejó muchas cosas en suspenso , por lo que tuvimos que revisar muchos de nuestros objetivos .
