As Muñoz explains , “ of the 469 IBAs identified in Spain , 140 have been selected taking into account the seven most representative habitats in order to take samples of water , soil and feces of wild animals to identify and quantify the presence of pollutants caused by the abandonment of waste and analyze their impact on the natural environment ”.
Education , the most effective tool
Children and adolescents are the present and the future of the world . The conservation of our planet will depend on them . For this reason , LIBE- RA contributes through its Aulas LIBERA project to raise awareness among schoolchildren , involving them in the collections to help raise awareness of their role in caring for the environment , and applying specific content so that they understand that they have responsibilities with respect to the care and conservation of natural spaces .
In addition , LIBERA has collaborated during 2020 with 21 universities , where they have offered their students training , lectures or exhibitions on waste management to reinforce the skills of different university disciplines . It also has a presence in vocational training centers , with the LI- BERA Makers project , an initiative that aims to train future professionals in the design of innovative solutions that have a favorable impact on the environment and the circular economy .
Added to all this are the multiple awareness campaigns it launches throughout the year with the aim of changing habits by appealing to individual and social responsibility through different awareness campaigns . “ We launch campaigns to raise awareness about the abandonment of masks , not flushing waste down the toilet or dumping litter in the ditches , among many others ,” says Güemes .
In short , he uses prevention to improve the conservation of natural spaces . Por este motivo , desde LIBERA contribuyen a través de su proyecto Aulas LIBERA a la sensibilización de los escolares , haciéndoles partícipes de las recogidas para ayudar a concienciar sobre su papel en el cuidado del entorno , y aplicando contenidos específicos para que comprendan que tienen responsabilidades con respecto al cuidado y conservación de los espacios naturales .
Además , LIBERA ha colaborado durante 2020 con 21 universidades , donde han ofrecido a sus alumnos formación , charlas o exposiciones sobre la basuraleza para reforzar las capacidades de diferentes disciplinas universitarias . Asimismo , tiene presencia en centros de FP , con el proyecto LIBERA Makers , una iniciativa que tiene como objetivo capacitar a los futuros profesionales en el diseño de soluciones innovadoras que tengan un impacto favorable en el medio ambiente y la economía circular .
A todo eso se unen las múltiples campañas de sensibilización que lanza a lo largo del año con el objetivo de cambiar hábitos apelando a la responsabilidad individual y social a través de diferentes campañas de sensibilización . « Lanzamos campañas para concienciar sobre el abandono de mascarillas , no tirar residuos por el WC o tirar basuraleza en las cunetas , entre muchas otras », señala Güemes .
En definitiva , utiliza la prevención para mejorar la conservación de los espacios naturales . Porque una conciencia colectiva se nutre de interiorizar gestos , acciones , ideas que , una vez asimiladas por miles de personas , pueden ser parte de la solución , igual que anteriormente fueron parte del problema .
