You can now discover one of the most extraordinary
spaces in the Natural Park of Los Alcornocales, a pla-
ce that has been declared an area of ecological sig-
nificance due to its biodiversity and landscape. Por-
tuguese Oak groves, areas of closed canopy trees,
shrublands exposed to fierce winds and rare cloud
forests, make this jungle habitat the only one of its
kind on the European Continent. This exceptional en-
vironment, formed by coastal moisture accumulating
in narrow valleys, has conserved a Laurel Forest pre-
sent here since the tertiary era (2.6 million years ago).
Make your way via 4x4 with Ornitour to the outskirts
of the forest, with informative stops along the way.
From here it is a short journey by foot through the
cloud forest, ending at the Llanos del Juncal; source
of the Guadalmesí river. Accompanied by a specialist
guide, this tour will allow you to fully discover this
natural haven, giving you the opportunity to pho-
tograph the singular flora and fauna and to marvel
at the spectacular views of the Straits of Gibraltar.
Vehicle access to the fringes of the forest (permit
included) means that you can observe and enjoy this
natural landscape without the physical exertion of a
long hike, making it a great option for people of all
ages and fitness levels. The services included on the
tour are; a specialist guide, 4x4 vehicle, park permits,
insurances and taxes, snacks, a guide book and pho-
tos. We advise visitors to bring suitable hiking shoes,
appropriate warm clothing and sun protection. Optio-
nally, you may want to bring a camera and binoculars
to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Ahora es posible descubrir uno de los lugares más
extraordinarios del Parque Natural Los Alcornoca-
les. Un área declarada de Reserva Especial por su
biodiversidad y paisajes, con rincones de vegetación
cerrada, quejigales únicos, zonas de matorral ex-
puestas a fuertes vientos y los singulares bosques
de niebla, hábitat selvático único del Continente
Europeo, formado por la acumulación de humedad
proveniente de la costa, en valles estrechos donde
se conserva una vegetación laurisilva pertenecien-
te a la Era Terciaria. La ruta se realiza en vehículo
4x4 de Ornitour hasta las cercanías del lugar, con
paradas interpretativas, que se completa con un fá-
cil recorrido a pie por el bosque de niebla hasta los
Llanos del Juncal, y nacimiento del Río Guadalmesí.
Una incursión guiada por un monitor especializado
para interpretar y fotografiar tan singular flora y los
más espectaculares paisajes del Estrecho de Gibral-
tar en toda su amplitud. El acceso en vehículo hasta
las cercanías del lugar (permiso del Parque Natural
incluido) permiten la observación y disfrute de la na-
turaleza sin tener que hacer un gran esfuerzo físico,
por lo que pueden realizarlo excursionistas de todas
las edades. Servicios incluidos: Guía intérprete es-
pecializado, vehículo 4x4, autorizaciones del Parque
Natural, seguros e impuestos, tentempiés, obsequio
de bibliografía y reportaje fotográfico.
Recomendaciones: Se aconseja que los asisten-
tes vayan provistos de calzado de campo, ropa de
abrigo y protección solar. Cámara fotográfica y pris-
máticos propios si disponen de ello.
