A note from the editor Vanessa Byrne / Managing Director
Spring has sprung . Nothing like gorgeous sunshine and clear skies to make you feel summer is well and truly coming soon .
With this lovely weather comes finalizing our Green Week Gibraltar plans . All is going right to schedule with marquees now confirmed to be set up all around the boulevard area . Campion Park will be filled with marquees from different organizations showcasing environmental and sustainable options and a big stage will be mounted in the middle bringing entertainment for all to enjoy ; dance groups , live acts , music and good vibes for all . Food stalls providing a variety of cuisines , a cycle route to commemorate the new cycling infrastructure and World Bicycle Day . It will most definitely be one to remember .
It really is a pleasure to be able to organize such events . The thrill of organizing anything that brings to focus our shared environment will always be at the forefront of all we do . After all , we need to focus all our energy to help our environment and give it the importance it deserves . This will make present and future leaders focus on the right goals and keep the environment at the forefront of any decisions or future policies . For more information on this event check the news shorts on page 10 .
On page 35 , COAMBA has shared a very illuminating article on “ Animals and their feelings ”. This article is a real eye opener making it clear what emotions and feelings animals truly have . Many studies have been done on different species exploring animal feelings and sensitivities . The article refers to Human Animals and Non-Human Animals , a great way to emphasize how alike we are . I feel this write up really brings home how we treat these wonderful creatures . Many may think they don ’ t know any better , the reality is not that easy , though society seems to accept this butchery as “ normal ”.
A highly recommended article , helps you build a perspective of the reality and impact of our lifestyle choices .
This month we proudly share with you a startling article from our Creative Director Juanjo Trujillo who has been investigating the true implications of our space explorations . It is insane to think that humans are now not only polluting our earth but also outer space . A whopping 128,000,000 pieces of debris circulating the atmosphere due to explorations and human activity . If we carry on this way , we will not even be able to escape from this planet . Check it out on page 63 .
On our regular Nature ’ s Way column , Dr Owen Wiseman explains the positive impact the ultra-low emission zone has had on London ’ s air quality . He explains an average decline of harmful pollutants in the air and how the implementation of these zones has had no negative effect on business or tourism activity but have had positive impacts on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases . It is inspiring and food for thought that raises our positive expectations of the recent measures taken on our transport infrastructure and its impact on the environment .
Finally , from all of us at OTWO , we would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter , we hope you ’ re surrounded by sunshine , flowers , chocolates , and family on this happy event . Peace and love to all
