This is how life coincides in making Fair Traveler meet Professor Carlos del Cairo and his student Jesús Alberto Aldana Mendoza in such a magical , and not at all hostile , land of the Wayuus during the fieldwork they both carry out for the project . They walk around , ask questions , and go through the territory telling those they meet what their purpose is . People are curious , they feel valued for their knowledge of the environment , those who know respond cordially , and those who do not know say who can know . Life among the guajiros glides smoothly and seemingly carefree . Settled in their adobe and straw huts , they enjoy natural foods , those provided by the land . They raise their cattle , fish according to their needs and cook with fire the flavor of a rooted and pure Colombia .
A silent witness of these events is the lighthouse in Punta Gallinas , land of intrigues , illuminating at night a sea that knows of failed conquests and sinkings and a desert that speaks of liquid borders and smuggling . Proud because , after all , it is the North of the South .

Así conviene la vida en hacer coincidir a Viajante con el profesor Carlos del Cairo y su alumno Jesús Alberto Aldana Mendoza en tan mágica , y en absoluto hostil , tierra de wayuus durante el trabajo de campo que ambos desarrollan para el proyecto . Pasean , preguntan , recorren el territorio contando a aquellos que encuentran en qué consiste su propósito . La gente atiende curiosa , se sienten valorados por su conocimiento del medio , el que sabe responde cordial , el que no sabe dice quién puede saber . Suave y aparentemente despreocupada se desliza la vida entre los guajiros . Acomodados en sus cabañas de adobe y paja , gustan de alimentos naturales , de los que da la tierra . Crían sus ganados , pescan según necesidad y cocinan a fuego el sabor de una Colombia arraigada y pura .
Testigo mudo de estos acontecimientos queda el Faro en Punta Gallinas , tierra de intrigas , alumbrando por la noche a un mar que sabe de conquistas fallidas y hundimientos y a un desierto que habla de fronteras líquidas y contrabandos . Orgulloso pues , al fin y al cabo , él es el Norte del Sur .
