Academia Futures Forward. Entrevista con Tammy Randall( líder del proyecto)
Could you tell us more about the Futures Forward Academy, who is involved in the initiative and who the programme is for?
The Futures Forward Academy is a leadership Academy in sustainable development relevant to young people in Gibraltar between the ages of 20- 30. The academy has been launched by the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainable Development and Future Generations and is spearheaded by the Commissioner herself, Prof. Daniella Tilbury. My role is that of Project Lead, managing the day-today running of the Academy and helping facilitate our sessions with participants. What inspired the development and launch of the Academy?
The Academy initiative has really been developed over the past year against a backdrop of international crisis as well as a number of issues which will effect Gibraltar more acutely. From the global covid-19 pandemic, the ongoing climate emergency to the more localised impact of Brexit.
We understood that the complexity and unpredictability of these challenges require capabilities that differ from those set by the traditional learning to lead initiatives and will require a lot of resilience from our future leaders.
The Futures Forward Academy seeks to support this next generation of leaders and help bridge the gap between their ambition to build a more sustainable Gibraltar and their current ability to do so. How did the first virtual event and talk by Juan Verde on“ The Biden Administration: Climate and Leadership Agenda” go?

¿ Podría explicarnos algo más sobre la Academia Futures Forward, quiénes participan en la iniciativa y a quiénes va dirigido el programa?
La Academia Futures Forward es una academia de liderazgo en materia de desarrollo sostenible dirigida a los jóvenes de Gibraltar de entre 20 y 30 años. La Academia ha sido lanzada por la Oficina del Comisario para el Desarrollo Sostenible y las Generaciones Futuras y está encabezada por la propia comisaria, la catedrática Daniella Tilbury. Mi papel es el de Jefa de Proyecto, gestionando el funcionamiento diario de la Academia y ayudando a facilitar nuestras sesiones con los participantes. ¿ Qué inspiró el desarrollo y lanzamiento de la Academia?
La iniciativa de la Academia se ha desarrollado realmente a lo largo del último año en un contexto de crisis internacional, así como de una serie de cuestiones que afectarán a Gibraltar de forma más aguda. Desde la pandemia mundial del covid-19, la actual emergencia climática hasta el impacto más localizado del Brexit.
Entendimos que la complejidad y la imprevisibilidad de estos retos requieren capacidades diferentes a las establecidas por el aprendizaje tradicional para liderar iniciativas y requerirán mucha resiliencia por parte de nuestros futuros líderes.
La Academia Futures Forward pretende apoyar a esta próxima generación de líderes y ayudar a salvar la distancia entre su ambición de construir un Gibraltar más sostenible y su capacidad actual para hacerlo. ¿ Cómo fue el primer evento virtual y la charla de Juan Verde sobre“ La Administración Biden: Agenda sobre el clima y el liderazgo”?
