Do you have a big idea , to make a big difference ?
The NHS Education for Scotland ( NES ) Allied Health Professions ( AHP ) Careers Fellowship Scheme is now open for applications to Cohort 6 . The Fellowship is open to all work-based project ideas that meet a local or national priority , and which demonstrate a clear career development opportunity for the applicant ( Scotland only ).
Each year the scheme supports AHPs to contribute to the delivery of health and social care priorities and ambitions in Scotland .
This year , the scheme is particularly interested in projects or ideas about innovation , change and development of AHP services that relate to the following three themes :
• Sustainability , which may be in the context of improving efficiencies in service provision ; optimising the contribution of roles or optimal deployment of skills within teams to address workforce challenges ; or addressing the climate emergency .
• Mental health and wellbeing , which may enable services to be able to support the mental health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland and our health and social care workforce .
• Public health and inequalities , which may support one of the public health priorities for Scotland or address other local needs .
Applications to the Fellowship close at 12 noon on 17 October 2023 . New support to help NHS staff in Wales thrive in a digital world
Health Education and Improvement Wales ( HEIW ) has launched its Digital Capability Framework for Healthcare in Wales . The framework is a practical , interactive tool that aims to help healthcare staff embrace digital technology and give them the confidence and skills to adapt to new and improved ways of working .
Digital capability is about more than building a digitally ready workforce , it ’ s about understanding the impact of digital advances in medicine and utilising it to improve patient care too . From AI to precision medicine , digital technology is transforming healthcare and ultimately , it ’ s enabling a more sustainable NHS .
The Digital Capability Framework outlines the skills , competencies , and behaviours required to participate fully , and safely , in digitised environments . It provides an opportunity to reflect on your individual digital capability and identify pathways for you to develop your knowledge and skills .
The framework identifies six domains of digital capability :
• Learning and leadership : including learning , supporting others , and leadership .
• Working with others : including communication , collaboration , and participation .
• Safety and wellbeing : including wellbeing , professionalism , safety and security .
• Using technology : including foundation skills , digital tools and productivity .
• Data literacy : including discovering data , using data and data to knowledge .
• Research and innovation : including research , innovation and impact .
By enabling the healthcare workforce to participate digitally , the framework allows NHS Wales to realise the benefits of digital transformation programmes , such as e-prescribing , as well as contributing to improved quality and better outcomes for all .
As part of this framework , healthcare staff across Wales have the opportunity to assess their digital capabilities using a free interactive tool . This outlines skills , competencies and behaviours required to thrive in a digitised environment . It will also give staff the chance to assess their individual capability and identify pathways to help them develop their digital knowledge and skills .
