Constance Owens Liverpool Award for Service Development : Roseanne Ireland Based in Northern Ireland , Roseanne has over a decade of experience as an occupational therapist , whose clinical expertise lies within mental health , substance misuse and adult rehabilitation .
Roseanne has had experience in various settings , including enablement , community and inpatient mental health services , and paediatrics and has worked across the UK and in Beirut , Lebanon .
She is currently working as a specialist occupational therapist in an acute community mental health service in Downpatrick , Northern Ireland . Roseanne earned a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Canterbury Christ Church University 2007 , and an MSc in Occupational Therapy ( post-registration ) in 2020 , from Sheffield Hallam University . Roseanne has just taken up a position on the Northern Ireland Royal College of Occupational Therapy Board .
Institute of Social Psychiatry Award : Toni King Toni is in her final year of a three-year consultant practitioner development programme hosted by Health Education Wessex . She has worked for over 20 years as an occupational therapist in adult mental health and prior to this was working as the recovery lead at Solent NHS Trust and dialectical behaviour therapist and Clinical Teaching Fellow at University of Southampton .
As part of the consultant practitioner programme Toni has commenced a part-time PhD with the University of Brighton where her research ( SPICES : Studying Power In Conversations aftEr Self-harm ) will take place within Sussex Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust .
These work strands enable Toni to champion occupational therapists in senior clinical , leadership and research roles whilst contributing to system-change to ensure recovery and living well will be available to all .
Innovation Award : Vicky Shaw Vicky has been the clinical lead for the Community Falls Service since 2018 , and has primarily worked in community services . She became interested in falls prevention in older adults after completing postural stability instructor training . This qualifies her to teach falls management exercise to older adults . She has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Falls and Osteoporosis .
Vicky will be completing her project , Development , delivery and evaluation of a structured falls management programme for older adults with dementia and their carers , with the funding from the Innovation Award , with Sharon Eldridge , who has worked in the Community Falls Service since 2019 .
Vicky and Sharon linked up in 2018 , while working with the Health Innovations Network on a project looking at vision and falls . Their joint interest in dementia and falls led to Sharon joining the Community Falls Service . This has supported the team to fill the skill and knowledge gap around Dementia and Falls .
Pearson Award : Dr Sandie Woods Sandie is a senior lecturer in occupational therapy in the Institute of Health and Social Care at London South Bank University ( LSBU ). She specialises in occupational therapy , qualitative and arts- based research , dementia , and mental health in older adults .
Sandie had extensive experience of working as an occupational therapist in hospital and community settings prior to joining LSBU . She has a special interest in supervision and mentoring , reflective practice , research poetry , and is a dementia friends champion with the Alzheimer ’ s Society . Sandie teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is a researcher and research supervisor .
