Celebrating exellence in occupational therapy

RCOT awards recognise excellence in the occupational therapy community and offer varied funding opportunities to support learning , development and research . Here we profile all the award winners for 2021

Every year , members of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists are invited to nominate their colleagues for a Fellowship or Merit Award , in recognition of their special contribution to the profession , while members are also urged to apply for one of the many funding opportunities available to support learning , development and research .

Congratulating all 18 of this year ’ s award winners , Professor Diane Cox , RCOT chair of council , said : ‘ We continue to practice , educate and research in challenging times . For our members this has seen you working in unprecedented circumstances , changing the how , where and the modes in which you work . However , it has also shone a light on the importance and need for our profession across the UK .
‘ Our Merit and Fellowship Awards recognise excellence in the occupational therapy community and this year ’ s awardees are no exception , with a range of practice , education and research represented across the awards recognised in members of our occupational therapy community . ‘ Our annual awards support funding for learning , development and research activities , and offer the opportunity to add to your portfolio in one or more of the four Pillars of Practice in the Career Development Framework .’ She added : ‘ This year , an Honorary Fellowship has been awarded to Andy Tilden , who recently retired as director of operations for Skills for Care , while a prestigious Fellowship has been awarded to Professor Wendy Bryant , Naomi Hankinson , Jan Harrison and Elaine Hunter . The Merit Award recipients are Dr Rebecca Khanna , Dr Duncan Pentland , and Jennifer Woods .
‘ The funding awarded to Roseanne Ireland , Toni King , Alicia Ridout , Vicky Shaw and Dr Sandie Woods demonstrate depth and breadth of innovative projects and continuing professional development activities , while Emeritus Professor Jo Adams , Dr Catriona Connell , Dr Eleanor Curnow , Laura Johnson and Laura Rossister will all receive an RCOT Research Foundation Grant .
