Anita Volkert , Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University said after the workshop : ‘ I really welcome these principles . They strike a lovely tone , are great for raising profile and getting people to think differently about practice placement as well as helping those who are moving into newer landscapes to feel reinforced and supported for doing that .’
While Jillian Kent , Principal Lecturer and Physiotherapist , Teesside University , believes the principles will be ‘ really helpful and powerful in supporting learners , universities and placement providers ’.
She reflects : ‘ There is often a disconnect between understanding placements and understanding workforce when in fact they are absolutely two sides of the same coin .’
And finally , Rachel England , Operational and Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy , says : ‘ As a practice educator , I am excited to share these with my team and share my enthusiasm . I also feel they give me a responsibility to go back to my employer and ask for support in what we ’ re being asked to do .’
