Creatively supporting the future workforce

Dr Channine Clarke explores the value of leadership placements in supporting practice-based learning

With COVID-19 having a significant impact on practice learning , it is evident that different placement models need to be developed and practice educators need to be supported with resources that will help them think creatively about how they can continue to support students and their future workforce .

As head of practice learning it has been important for me to role model and demonstrate how leadership placements can be used to provide learning opportunities for students that meet their immediate learning outcomes , but more importantly enable them to develop leadership and associated skills that will stand them in good stead for their future practice .
I therefore offered to have two students work collaboratively with me and the School of Health Science ’ s placement teams for seven weeks to develop an interprofessional Edublog site that has been designed to support practice educators with resources about the different professional courses , training
