… though we all came from different backgrounds and had individual ways of working , we always found a way to adjust and adapt to each other , in order to best meet the patients ’ and service ’ s needs .
COVID-19 FEATURE
As a team we got through paperwork efficiently , adapted and learnt new ways of working , we felt supported and guided through gradual changes , and we were proactive in stepping up whenever necessary .
Each one of us brought that daily dose of enthusiasm that made everything easier and worth it . In the end , it wasn ’ t that hard to go to work in a middle of a pandemic . Why ? Because no matter how hard it gets , we knew that there would always be someone ready to listen , and ready to help . Together , it will always be easier .
We are all very proud to have been part of a team working to relieve the immense pressure that London ’ s acute hospitals were under at the time .
While conscious of this bigger picture , the media interest , and the fact that one day the Nightingale will be talked about as part of our NHS history , the team tried to always put patients first .
This often required flexibility – even putting aspects of our personal lives on hold to move to be at the Nightingale – and team work , with a rapidly changing team , and resilience , to provide a high standard of care in difficult circumstances and a challenging environment .
As occupational therapists we are proud that most patients made functional improvements during their stay .
