Scoping Review Grant on service improvement now available from RCOT
A Scoping Review Grant of up to £ 20,000 on occupational therapy service improvement is now available from RCOT .
Through its Innovation Hub , RCOT aims to establish an environment where occupational therapists can learn from others ’ service improvement journeys . We also need to understand the research available on innovation in relation to occupational therapy . To that end , we would like to conduct a scoping review that addresses the following questions : What is the occupational therapy experience of service improvement ? What are the barriers and facilitators to occupational therapy service improvement ?

Meet the new colourways for NHS uniforms in England
Following a series of consultations , the national uniform project , led by NHS Supply chain , has come to an end . This consultation was designed to make the professional identity of occupational therapists consistent across NHS trusts .
Working with NHS staff and allied health professionals – including RCOT – NHS Supply Chain , working in tandem with NHS England , has unveiled and confirmed the new standardised uniform design for individual professions in England . The new uniforms include a colour trim to represent each profession .
Taking in the responses and comments from our members and other occupational therapists to the most recent consultation ( completed in January 2023 ), the standardised uniform for occupational therapists in the English NHS will be : a white smart scrub tunic edged with a green trim ; black or navy blue trousers .

RCOT Early Researcher Prize 2023
Have you taught someone who ’ s completed an outstanding research project ? Nominate them for RCOT ’ s Early Researcher Prize before the deadline of 9am , Friday 30 June 2023 . Nominations must be for : pre-registration BSc / MSc occupational therapy students ; someone who created an outstanding research project completed in the final year of their degree programme in either 2022 or 2023 . Nominations must come from a member of the academic team at the student ’ s institution . Student nominees need to be BAOT members . Visit bit . ly / 3WTLvzH .
RCOT calls for more OTs in primary care RCOT has written to the Minister for Disabled People , Health and Work , Tom Pursglove MP , with a call to expand the number of occupational therapists in primary care . Karin Orman , RCOT Director of Practice and Innovation , said : ‘ To prevent the number of people dropping out of the workforce , we are calling on the UK government to expand the number of occupational therapists in GP surgeries and the funding for this across the whole UK . This is so every patient can benefit from earlier job retention advice by occupational therapy in primary care before they fall out of work .’ Read the full letter at bit . ly / 3MKEfSe .
