Above : Delegate feedback on their abilities and confidence in reducing / providing singlehanded care , after the training
22 % having previously had any type of specialist single-handed care training .
However , 98 % of delegates said that the training introduced techniques that they had not seen before , indicating that there is a gap in current moving and handling training to deliver this specialist knowledge .
With this in mind , it could be argued that this lack of specialist training and knowledge could be further compounding the demand on community care capacity and the risk attitudes of those recommending size of care required .
Furthermore , delegates identified that there was equipment that they had not been exposed to before that is supportive of reduced carer handling ; it could be argued that it may have been previously prohibitive for clinicians to have the right tools to ensure that a task ( in this instance the moving and handling of a person ) could be completed safely .
The only addition that delegates reported that they would have liked to have seen were techniques to support more ambulant patients who require assistance of more than one person .
Delegates were also asked about the benefits of training with professionals from a variety of agencies across health and social care ; 95 % scored this at four and above on the Likert scale .
The government ’ s integration and innovation paper ( 2021 ) highlighted the need to remove barriers and for the NHS and local government to form dynamic partnerships to address some of society ’ s most complex health problems .
