RCOT has published its intentions for progressing the health equity work that kicked off in 2021 with RCOT Annual Conference and Occupational Therapy Week .
If 2021 was about ‘ setting markers in the sand for health equity ’, then 2022 ‘ must be the year in which we begin to make progress ’, RCOT says in a recent news report on the website . RCOT goes on to add : ‘ We know that we won ’ t sweep away embedded injustice just by hoping hard . But we think we can build on what we ’ ve learned , from the ideas people have shared with us and with the support of the occupational therapy community .
‘ We won ’ t succeed until everyone sees they have a part in delivering justice , and that it ’ s a “ golden thread ” throughout everything we do .’
Progress will come in many areas , including the Roots of recovery report , digital equity , an advocacy toolkit , tackling inequalities in pre-registration education and campaigning against injustices within workplaces , to name just a few .
