How does the page run ?
The page is run by a team of three staff members who oversee posting , editing and replying to any comments . Previously , it was the responsibility of these three staff members to post regular content , which was very time consuming alongside their active caseloads .
Over the past few months , we decided that the whole Children ’ s and Young People Occupational Therapy Team would play an active role in the page ; each being assigned a week ( on a rolling rota ) in which to create posts on a topic of their choice .
This has worked well , as it has given the whole team an insight into how the page works and has also helped to spread the load . It has also been a benefit to those accessing the page , as fresh ideas and topics have been explored . The Facebook team is still responsible for scheduling these posts and are on hand to assist with ideas and writing when needed .
Polling our followers
In November 2020 , to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our page , we decided to run a series of polls to get some insight into who was accessing the page and why . The data we collected gave us a greater understanding of our audience , allowing us to better plan how the page can be used going forward .
Feedback from our followers
People who responded to our polls said :
• ‘ Loving all your tips , we regularly share them as part of our home learning , thank you .’
• ‘ Thanks , some really handy tips in these posts I ’ d never thought of to support my left-handed five-year-old .’
• ‘ I just love these . Keep them coming .’
• ‘ Always lots of great ideas and suggestions on this page . Very useful ! Thank you !’
• ‘ A fab page , which we have also shared with early years parents in the school I work [ at ].’
When and why was the page set up ?
In October 2018 , in response to Ready to Act and the digital health agenda .
The page was set up to engage with and promote the service to the public and service users .
The page also gives our service users and the public a platform for feedback .
In November 2020 , we ran polls on the page to gather insight about who was accessing the page and what content they wanted .

What topics have been best received so far ?
The polling also highlighted that people ’ s favourite topics are :
• dressing skills
• prewriting skills
• skills for starting P1
• routines – advice , strategies and ideas
• transition to secondary
• school – organisational skills . A summary of this information was sent to senior management , who were keen to find out more about how the page runs , and for us to be able to highlight the importance of staff setting time aside to populate the social media page .
Going forward , the Digital Health Team within the Children ’ s and Young People Occupational Therapy Service plan to generate another poll to gain ideas on what topics our users would like to see covered in the future .
