You will not be representing a particular constituency of members . Instead , you will be ensuring corporate governance and acting as a leader of the profession .
Holding a Council seat is demanding . It requires a willingness to commit your time , shoulder corporate responsibility and deal with complex and differing issues .
But it ’ s also rewarding . It provides intellectual stimulation and learning opportunities relating to business management and professional body administration .
What will I do ?
All nine Council members are expected to think strategically . You will actively contribute to discussions and decisions extending beyond your own area of practice and experience to safeguard the organisation and its members .
You will need to attend four one-day meetings a year , usually held in London but currently taking place virtually . You will also attend the annual general meeting and annual conference .
There is a considerable volume of documents you will have to read and consider before each Council meeting . You will also receive emails which may ask you to supply specific information by a deadline .
We recommend you gain the support of your manager . Holding a national office requires time away from work which they need to be aware of .

How do I apply ?
The deadline for nominations is noon on Friday 4 March 2022 , by either hard or electronic copy .
We value the diversity of our 35,000 strong membership and aim to have a governance that reflects this . We strongly encourage applications for Council from all sections of the community , especially those from under-represented groups .

The independent scrutineer for the ballot , appointed in accordance with the Trade Union and Labour Relations ( Consolidation ) Act 1992 , will be Civica Election Services . The election results will be announced at the AGM in June 2022 .
