Professional Practice Internship

This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or a final year pre-registration occupational therapy learner , who has a strong interest in developing research related skills and awareness in public affairs by working alongside the RCOT Practice and Workforce team .
The Practice and Workforce team focuses on modernising the OT profession by preparing both employers and the OT workforce for changes in policy and practice affecting the profession . Our main job is to influence . We work with our members and stakeholders to actively shape the healthcare policy and professional standards across four pillars of practice .
This internship is a combination of remote and flexible work . You ’ ll work partly at RCOT ’ s London Bridge office and the rest of the time remotely . We ’ ll finalise the details of this flexible work arrangement with the individual who is selected for the role . Applicants will need to have the necessary IT equipment , software , access to suitable broadband and a dedicated working space to support their work .
The internship is for a fixed-term contract available between 17 June – 23 August 2024 . It can be taken either on an 8-week full-time basis ( 35 hours per week ) or part-time for 10 weeks ( minimum requirement of 3 days , all options considered ).
The salary is £ 26,000 a year , full time , ( pro rata for part-time hours ) plus benefits . Accommodation and travel costs are at the intern ’ s expense . A modest budget is available to support related project work and CPD activity .
As an intern you ’ ll :
• Obtain first-hand experience of working within the Practice and Workforce team .
• Work alongside the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Professional Advisers to promote the breadth and scope of occupational therapy practice across the UK .
• Receive education , supervision and mentoring in relation to raising the profile of occupational therapy with a range of stakeholders .
• Lead on a project that produces resources and key messages for a current campaign .
Applications are open to recent graduates ( up to two years post registration ) with a minimum 2:1 honours degree / merit for pre-registration Masters , or final year preregistration occupational therapy learners with the equivalent predicted final degree outcomes .
