ROYAL COLLEGE OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS Professional Practice Internship

Fixed Term Contract available between Monday 20 June 2022 and Friday 26 August 2022 Salary C £ 24,500 per annum full time ( pro rata for part time hours ) plus benefits
Internship may be taken either on an 8-week full-time basis ( 35 hours per week ) or part time for 10 weeks ( minimum requirement of 3 days , all options considered ).
Base : The internship is offered as a flexible blended opportunity , with a period of time spent at RCOT ’ s London headquarters , the duration and timing of which will be agreed with the successful applicant . The remainder of the time will be spent working remotely .
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists Professional Practice Team is responsible for maintaining and developing professional networks with occupational therapists and represents members at strategic levels with government policy groups across the UK .
The RCOT internship scheme provides a fabulous opportunity for a recent graduate or pre-registration occupational therapy student currently in their final year of studies , who has a strong interest in developing research related skills and awareness in public affairs by working alongside colleagues within the RCOT Professional Practice Department .
It is offered as a flexible , blended opportunity , with a period of time spent at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists , HQ at London Bridge . The timing and duration of this will be agreed with the successful applicant and taking account of any COVID-19 safety restrictions and government guidance that may be in place at the time of the internship . The remainder of the internship will be spent working remotely , and it is expected that applicants will have the necessary IT hardware , software , access to suitable broadband , and appropriate dedicated working space , to support this . The successful applicant will receive a salary during the internship ; however , accommodation and travel costs are at the intern ’ s expense . A modest budget is available to support related project work and CPD activity .
The Intern can expect to :
• Obtain first-hand experience of working within the Professional Practice Team at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
• Work alongside the RCOT Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Professional Advisers to promote the breath and scope of occupational therapy practice across the UK .
• Receive education , supervision and mentoring in relation to raising the profile of occupational therapy with a range of stakeholders .
• Lead on a project that produces resources and key messages to members and wider stakeholder about the current RCOT campaign .
Applications for the internship are open to recent graduates ( up to 2 years post registration ) holding a minimum 2:1 honours degree / merit for pre-registration Masters , or pre-registration occupational therapy learners currently in their final year of study with the equivalent predicted final degree outcomes . Applicants must also have a strong interest in research and development that can be demonstrated as part of the selection process .
