Research and Development Internship Fixed Term Contract – 8 weeks ( Monday 28 June – Friday 20 August 2021 ) 35 hours per week Salary C £ 24k pro rata per annum , plus benefits
The internship is offered as a flexible blended opportunity , with a period of time at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists HQ at London Bridge , the duration and timing of which will be agreed with the successful applicant . The remainder of the period will be spent working remotely .
The Education and Research Department at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists has responsibility for leading and shaping the occupational therapy profession in relation to research , pre-registration education , and continuing professional development . The Royal College of Occupational Therapists ( RCOT ) Research and Development Strategy 2019-2020 aims to support the development of research confidence , capability and capacity within the occupational therapy profession in the UK and as part of our commitment to supporting members to engage in and with research , we are delighted to offer a Research and Development Internship opportunity .
The RCOT Research and Development Internship programme provides an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or pre-registration occupational therapy student currently in their final year of studies , who has a strong interest in developing their research-related skills and gaining an understanding of the work of the Education and Research Team within the Royal College of Occupational Therapists .
The eight week internship is offered on a full-time basis from Monday 28 June – Friday 20 August 2021 . Subject to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions , the internship is offered as a flexible , blended opportunity , with a period of time spent at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists HQ at London Bridge . The timing and duration of this will be agreed with the successful applicant and taking account of any safety restrictions and government guidance that may be in place at the time of the internship . The remainder of the internship will be spent working remotely , and it is expected that applicants will have the necessary IT hardware , software , access to suitable broadband , and appropriate dedicated working space , to support this . The successful applicant will receive a salary during the internship , and a modest budget will be available to support related project work and CPD activity .
The Research and Development Intern can expect to :
• obtain first-hand experience of working within the Education and Research Team at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
• work alongside the RCOT Research and Development Manager and Professional Development Manager on projects to assist with the development , piloting , evaluation and dissemination of a range of research-related RCOT resources to support members to enhance their research skills
• receive education , supervision and mentoring in relation to research-related skills and personal development
• be actively involved in research-related activities
• experience the RCOT research governance process
Applications for the internship are open to recent graduates ( up to 2 years post registration ) holding a minimum 2:1 honours degree / merit for preregistration Masters , or pre-registration occupational therapy students currently in their final year of study with the equivalent predicted final degree outcomes . Applicants must also have a strong interest in research and development that can be demonstrated as part of the selection process .
