Sheiling School is an independent SEN school and children ’ s home for children and young people aged 6-19 . Our educational and therapeutic approach emphasises ‘ learning through doing ’ and the essential connection between movement , co-ordination , sensory integration and personal and academic progress . Located on a beautiful estate in Thornbury near Bristol , we are looking for an Occupational Therapist with Level 2-3 qualification in Sensory Integration Therapy ( Assessment and Intervention ), experience of direct work with children and young adults with Autism or sensory processing difficulties , and understanding of trauma and emotional regulation . You must have a current registration with HCPC .
Specialist knowledge and qualities required :
• Openness to the Steiner / Waldorf approach , including a willingness to work with our ‘ learning through doing ’ approach to embed OT across the curriculum
• A thorough understanding of relevant medical conditions , terminology and medication .
• Sound knowledge of Occupational Therapy theory , legislation and practice relevant to working with children with special needs and their families .
• Knowledge of the roles of other professionals in health , social and education settings .
