When I got the Get the Look project I felt quite confused about the work that had to be completed especially looking at how the four different subjects combined into one at the end. But I spent the first week looking over the brief and I started to understand what needed to be completed, I signed up to the websites need, Joomag being one of those. We had been told that it took some time to get use to using it, and they were not lying. I struggled at the start to get the hang of using it but after I had made a test and practiced a bit I found it fairly easy to use. I started to try and use it on an iPad at first but I soon found it did not work on here which was annoying as I have more access to an iPad over a laptop.
I started on my sketch book early on, going to visit different locations including museums and stores. I really enjoyed creating my sketch book, planning how I wanted to lay out the pages and finding some good images to include alongside mine. Also finding out about the different eras was interesting, I liked how we related events that were going on during the era and how they related to fashion.
When we were told to make a number of videos I did not feel very confident, are first was to be based in the V&A, our group allocated each other a era to talk about and prepared a small bit of text to read, the video was not the best as there was a lot of background noise and we were not very confident as it was the first video. If we were to make one again I think it would be best to choose another location, possibly one that reflected the eras we spoke about.
One part of the project that when I first knew about it I was looking forward to doing is making it into a magazine, I really like magazines so I wanted to create a really well presented magazine. Although some parts that we needed to include into the magazine did not look very professional such as peer assessments, for these I used a tool called things I, this allowed me to hide them as pop ups on the pages, which made it look much better.
If I were to do this project again I would start looking at Joomag earlier, Because I found it hard at the start I pushed it back so I could spend more time on other parts of the project, if I had started it earlier I would have felt more confident and been able to start it earlier.
Another thing I would have done better is planned videos when I got the brief, it would have given me more time to think about the videos created and maybe completed them earlier on. I was happy with my final eras video although I would have spoken over the video. I wanted to create better get the looks, I took some photos of friends out in London, I was happy as to how they turned out, but I felt that they could have been improved. I wanted to go and take some more but other work seemed to take over from this.
I feel I may have spent more time than needed on making my Joomag look good, I would spend a lot of time moving text around and trying to find the right photo, this time could have been used in other ways, but I could not help myself but make it look perfect. Overall I have enjoyed this project even though at sometimes I feel there has been a lot of work to do, I would definitely do this project again and try to improve my outcome.
