Message to the Alumni :
Why do you think it is necessary to have an Alumni Association at OUCE I think three most important things in life would be Experience , Growth and Contribution as a human being . Needless to say , undergraduation is the most important time in one ' s life where in you shape your character & career . As college plays a vital role , it ' s our duty to contribute to the college as alumni and the medium to do it would be the Alumni Association . I also feel , the Alumni Association would bring diversified people in the industry together which helps in the exchange of multidisciplinary knowledge , network , collaborate and grow together .
How do you think , we , as alumni of OUCE can give back to our College As mentioned above , out of the three important things in life , contribution plays a key role in one ' s life and as an alumni , I have started providing jobs , internships to my college students . I also give lectures in college in my area of expertise .
How do you perceive the Global Alumni Meet being held on 25th December 2016 I would see it to be more fruitful rather being just an event to make it happen . The meet should serve the purpose in primarily two ways :
a . Students should be able to use it as a platform to interact with alumni of a particular discipline , seek advice and innovative ideas for their career . If some of the students are ready to take up entrepreneurship as their career and few of the alumni can extend their support , then we can fund or create an incubation centre .
b . For Alumni , it ’ s a great networking platform .
Message to the Students :
Your message for the students / younger generation who wish to build their career in your field ? I was fortunate enough to breakthrough an extent in the field starting my own firm at the age of 24 yrs but to look back its scary as well as in civil engineering the mistakes can ’ t be undone .
I would say get some good experience in the field you like to prosper work in those companies whether it is small or big and build the career you want if you are ready to take up the challenges individually . More than the subject knowledge one should understand the industrial need and art of building relations and trust to prosper in any field of business .
How do you think the younger generation should be prepared for the future ( both in professional and personal development aspects ) I wouldn ’ t scare you saying that your HAPPY DAYS are going to end , I would indeed say you would be going through challenging and exciting days right after your graduation and you will be directly or indirectly contributing to the country and you have more responsibility than before as your contribution to the society is going to make a difference . Coming to personal developments I know many of you would be vicitims of marriage by 30 or before one should be ready to adjust and handle your life partner more than anyone . Also I would say one should understand the purpose of being human and being part of this world .
Any other advice you wish to give to students as an Alumni I would advise students to explore wide areas of specialization rather than just studying for a conventional degree which most of them do . This would be crucial in career building . The industry wants people who can stand out from the crowd albeit being a part of it . I also advise students that conventional knowledge wouldn ’ t be valid due to the ongoing drastic changes in technology and the way the world is evolving . I would advise students to keep themselves constantly updated about the advancements happening across the globe even after joining a corporate organization . Learning never ends with graduation . It rather begins after leaving college .
