Spine

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Spine team focuses on the management of spinal deformity in children. Research efforts are directed toward evaluating and improving quality and safety outcomes in spine surgery, especially minimizing blood loss, surgical site infections and other complications. The Spine Program is also dedicated to investigating the effectiveness and quality of life outcomes of non-invasive treatments such as bracing, casting and observation. In addition, our team contributes to leading international research by participating in major study groups, including the Harms Study Group, Fox Study Group and the Pediatric Spine Study Group.
RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS
The spine team continues to support hospital-wide efforts to reduce infection rates through Target Zero, an initiative within Children’ s Colorado to eliminate all preventable harm. In parallel, while expanding the collection of PROs across the orthopedic department, we are using these surveys to inform clinical decision-making and improve patient care. The team also presented“ Integration of Electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes in a Pediatric Orthopedic Clinic: Pathway to Success” as a podium presentation at POSNA 2025.
