LISA HILLAND
It is a universal truth that opposites attract and create harmony . Hot and cold , hard and soft , black and white . You can ´ t have one without the other . When designer Lisa Hilland was asked to create a vase for Orrefors that was just as beautiful with or without flowers , she chose to contrast the exclusive crystal with metal . BLOOM is inspired by the organic shapes in nature , such as flowers and leaves . It is as perfect holding an exquisite bouquet as it is with a simple branch of ivy , but is also stunning in its own glory when the clear Orrefors crystal catches the light just right .
Emma Ekberg ( b . 1977 ) grew up in Gothenburg and has a Master of Fine Arts from the University College of Arts , Crafts and Design in Stockholm . As an industrial designer , Emma regularly confronts new worlds and new challenges , both through the various products she is asked to create and in her travels . Each design has its own story – and new stories are continuously born in the interaction between the user and the object .
Jan Johansson ( 1942-2018 ) came to Orrefors in 1969 after training as a silversmith in Stockholm at the College of Arts , Crafts and Design . As an artist , he was interested in refining the optical effects of pure , sculptural crystal , as in his cut-glass barware series Street . “ I want to shape the crystal by controlling the light . If the light dies , so does the glass .”
