Signature Project:
Highgate Industrial Park Belfast, N Ireland
Though Newtownabbey was officially formed with the
merging of seven villages in April 1958, recently uncovered
artifacts & maps show the White House castle (a local landmark) & other remnants dating back to 1569. Nestled on
the Northern Shore of Belfast Lough for over 400 years, the
castle is recognized as one of Ireland’s oldest and most important buildings. Serving as a navigation marker for ships,
the building & surrounding area has witnessed many scenes
from the sailing ships that carried King Williams’ armies, the
Titanic sailing on her maiden voyage, to the Luftwaffe bombers using it as their gateway into the city.
