Of course, before being safe for consumption by humans, this method was first tested on mice, leading to very definitive results. Compared to a control group that received an unchanged bacteria or just water, the group that took the new particles had 15 percent less weight over the course of the program. Furthermore, these new bacteria have not proved to be harmful to any of the test groups yet. In fact, the mice groups with the changed bacteria had healthier liver and metabolism systems than any of the control groups, even when being fed diets that were higher in fats and carbohydrates than the control groups.
However, for all of you already lining up to purchase this new miracle treatment, you may have to wait a bit longer. Fecal exposure can transmit the bacteria from person to person, increasing the chance that the very young or the very old can obtain the appetite diminishing bacteria to very negative effect. Therefore, these bacteria may need to be even further genetically modified to reduce the risk of transmission through any unwanted sources. Regardless, we may soon be entering a time when obesity is a thing of the past.
