I bet you have encountered numerous memes on the web. Well, there is a study of how these memes, ideas that spread between people, can be combined with other memes for “socially therapeutic” purposes. Although it is not definitely regarded as a scientific field, it is in the proto-science phase.

Currently, scientists are discovering ways to collect and distribute information so they can study the impacts of such processes. In the future, they want to utilize recombinant memetics to fight the spread of violent ideas in the world. Who knew memes could have such impact in our lives?
