However, professors Sabraw and Riefler of Ohio University have recently taken a new approach to alternate uses for water reclamation; the process in which the pH of the water is stabilized and forces the heavier metals to settle out. Instead of simply wasting the iron hydroxide that settled out from the polluted Ohio streams, Sabraw and Riefler recognized the ability of iron oxide to be used as capable, high-quality pigments in art, and decided to transform their iron hydroxide into iron oxide pigments..

Unlike medieval alchemists, Sabraw and Riefler were successful in their attempts at chemical compound metamorphoses.

Water reclamation is a common goal among environmentalists. It is a method to reduce lethal pollution in waterways often caused by human endeavors. However, this successful experiment

undergone by Sabraw and Riefler displays other uses for water reclamation which may have unexplored diversity still left to discover. Whether it’s reducing toxins or creating art, water reclamation has really proven to be something amazing!
