when these compact dimensions are manipulated, we could squeeze/expand the regular 3 dimensions, which would cause something like warp drive. Think of one side of a spaceship having a squeezed dimension and the other side having an expanded dimension. Strange, but this is speculative of what would cause warp drive faster than light.
Basically, when these compact dimensions are manipulated, we could squeeze/expand the regular 3 dimensions, which would cause something like warp drive.
Along with space travel comes time travel, an implied idea because a tunnel that allows us to travel would result in locations with different time periods. When reaching near the speed of light, something like time travel is said to be taking place. Traveling close to the speed of light means that time slows down from your perspective; this is quantified by something called the gamma factor. Say the gamma factor was 2 (near the speed of light); then for every 2 minutes that I go, some observer would have perceived 1 minute to pass. Now this idea is actually kind of proven by subatomic particle collisions with particle accelerators. We just haven’t done it in a large scale.
WORMHOLES, connections of different points in space-time continuum through the 4th dimension. If we actually want to make our own (this is all speculation by the way), we would need something called negative energy which is something that must coexist with regular matter and energy (sort of proven inductively). This is a pretty complex idea that we can’t really harness yet by the way. But one man named Ford cut to the chase and proposed his Ford-Svaiter mirror, which could be used to concentrate negative vacuum energy to make wormholes on Earth (so that spaceships could go inside and travel). As to where we would travel, we could place wormholes on different places (on Earth and near other planets) by “tuning” these mirrors. Who knows, maybe in the future we will create an infrastructure of wormholes and create intergalactic commerce.
I hope you have enjoyed this preview into the way of the future and a look into the crazy and deep stuff that scientists think of in their free time. Theoretically, all this technology should be developed long after we are gone. But I theorize they could just as easily time travel here and bring it all with them.
