Sumiyoshi Taisha
Sumiyoshi Taisha is one of the earliest examples of pre-Buddhist
Shinto architecture and features
in the oldest written record of Japan; the Kojiki. It was originally
constructed in the early 3rd century AD by a member of a prominent local clan called Tamomi no
Sukune. The shrine was endorsed
by the legendary Empress Jingū
Kogo (the conqueror of Korea) and
Osaka Aquarium
Kaiyukan
The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is
without a doubt the best Japanese
Aquarium. Located in the ward of
Minato in Osaka, Japan, near Osaka Bay, it is one of the largest public
aquariums in the world. It’s about
a five-minute walk from Osakako
Station on the Osaka Municipal
Subway Chūō Line, and next to the
Tempozan Ferris Wheel.
Dotonburi
Dotonbori is the beating heart of
Osaka’s nightlife and is filled with
restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs, arcades and theatres. The
area used to be known as Osaka’s
pleasure district as it contained numerous kabuki and bunraku theatres as well as a geisha district.
