ON THE SASANIAN CROWN PRINCES ENTHRONEMENT ORIGIN AND
SIGNIFICANCE IN ARMENIAս

The exploration of writing sources and the Sasanian reliefs shows that
the ruling of Sasanyan crown princes in Great Armenia began earlier than it
was usually imagined in historiography. It was sourced in undertigrisian
provinces Angeghtun, Mets Tsopk, Arzan, Tsavdeq, Korduq, which were
conquered from Great Armenia by Persians in the 220th. Here sucessively
ruled the inheritor of Artashir the 1st and the commander of the Persian army
Shapuh (from 230 to 242), then the latter's crown prince Hormizd-Artashir
(from 242 to 253). Therefor, its not right to identifie the terms ''The ruling of
Sasanian crown princes in Armenia'' and ''The time of anarchy'' both in time
and in content.
In 252 Hormizd-Artashir conquered the other parts of Great Armenia
forcing the Armenian king Tiridat to leave the country. After that the Persian
crown prince Hormizd-Artashir became the ruler of Great Armenia. Therefor
after the definitive conquest of Armenia in 252, it should be noted the «time of
anarchy» of Armenian history. Our investigation shows that we have no
