Orient - The Official Magazine of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore - Issue 71 April 2019

The Future of Learning forum was held on 28th February 2019 at Eden Hall, Singapore. This event was organised by the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore in partnership with the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT), the British Council in Singapore, AVADO Learning, and generously supported by Jardine Lloyd Thompson Asia. The forum forms part of a wider regional Education is GREAT campaign by DIT and key partners in order to promote the UK’s excellence in education and secure the UK as an education partner of choice in ASEAN. The event was also part of the SG-UK Partnership for the Future as Singapore and the UK celebrates its Bicentennial.

The forum featured interactive sessions with Guest of Honour – Ms. Alexandra McKenzie, Deputy British High Commissioner, Ms. Mei-kwei Barker, Country Director of British Council and a keynote address from Dr. Michael Fung Jin Lung, Deputy Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore.

The forum took a deeper look into how companies, institutions and the government are pushing the boundaries of learning to adapt and shape the rapidly changing nature of knowledge acquisition, skills and work in an increasingly digital world. It also brought together high-level global experts in The Future of On-the-Job Learning (TVET) and Technology-empowered Learning (Ed-Tech) sectors as part of the Future of Learning Dialogue.
