TAZUMAL
Located in the heart of the municipality of Chalchuapa, in the department of Santa Ana,
just 80 kilometers from the capital city of San Salvador. Tazumal is a unique site that
highlights the traces of the indigenous civilization that dominated our country before
the colonial era, its meaning "place where souls are consumed" in the Nahua-Quiche
language. Its first reference dates from 1892, formally registered in 1940 by Stanley
Boggs, who had the opportunity to identify 13 structures.
