Lodging has been run by generations of the same family since
1937. A devastating forest fire swept through Bandon in 1936,
destroying homes, businesses and landmarks.
Among the hearty souls who lost their homes and livelihoods
but not their love for the community and picturesque setting
were Herbert and Clara Brown. What began as homes for their
two families grew over the years into a 71-unit motel with four
motel buildings and an assortment of beach cottages capable of
accomodating up to 230 people.
Most of the rooms in the two original buildings are small and
rustic but cozy and warm, recalling the preferred accomodations
of a bygone era. The three-story Vern Brown Addition was designed to cling to the cliff's edge and provide magnificent ocean
views from all 21 of its rooms, each of which has a private deck.
