Dear Collector,
We have been selected to be the official auctioneer for ORCOEXPO and have a very
strong offering for this show. This year’s ORCOEXPO is being held Friday-Sunday,
January 17-19, 2014 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Anaheim, California, next door to
Disneyland. Bring your family. You can come and enjoy the fun and excitement of the show,
while family members enjoy the World of Disney. More than 2,400 lots of philatelic material,
ranging from better USA and Foreign singles, to large cover lots, quality Country collections
and box lots are all being offered to the highest bidder – many UNRESERVED. And the
viewing is right on the show floor to make it even easier!
Session II (Saturday, January 18th at 12noon, PT): Leading off this session is a number of
Coin & Currency lots. Then we jump right into Stamps with high-powered U.S. singles and
sets. Among these is an 1869 Declaration of Independence 24¢ Invert, Scott 120b – graded
70 – only one is known to grade higher at 75 (lot 1197 – SMQ $50,000). And we are offering
no fewer than four Pan American Inverts (lots 1454-1457). A couple of other USA highlights
include the 1909 Washington 8¢ Bluish Paper, Scott 363 (lot 1540 – catalogs $30,000),
and the 1898 Trans-Mississippi 50¢ top plate block of 4, Scott 291 (lot 2063 – catalogs
$25,000). Our rapidly growing Errors, Freaks and Oddities section features something unique
for every pocketbook, including a 1993 Kosciuszko 5¢ horizontal pair, imperf vertically,
Scott 734a (lot 2275 – catalogs $2,000). Plus there are many Confederate and Possession lots.
Session III (Sunday, January 19th at 11am, PT): A couple highlights of our British singles
session are a beautiful set of the Falkland Islands (65-76) 1933 Centenary Penguin &
Admiral ½d-£1 (lot 2544 – catalogs $4,300), and a scarce Malta (65) 1919 St. Paul 10sh
black (lot 2572 – catalogs $3,500). But there are plenty other items of note, including much
China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and a fabulous selection of
recently discovered Korean Revenue sheets from 1946, plus many more yummy foreign
singles.
We have a substantial number of interesting and unusual Postal History offerings this time
(lots 2852-3031), including Stampless Covers, a beautiful holding of U.S. Advertising covers,
and truly scarce China PRC covers from the Cultural Revolutionary period. Plus a very strong
selection of USA Collections (lots 3032-3151) that fit all pocket books, estimated from
$500 – all the way up to $40,000! Plus, there are another 200+ British and Foreign country
collections (lots 3152-3372)!
We are also holding a Space & Collectibles Session prior to the Stamp sale on Wednesday,
January 15th at Regency-Superior's St. Louis Gallery. If you can’t join us at ORCOEXPO, you
may view the lots at our St. Louis gallery until Thursday, January 9th. Viewing continues at
ORCOEXPO beginning Thursday, January 16th (for dealers), and during show hours for the
public. As always, viewing and bidding are available 24/7 at www.RegencySuperior.com.
Best of luck with your bidding!
