Session III: Sunday, January 19, 2014 Estimate 3364 – STAMP SHOWS – 3359 Estimate / / /P/ WORLDWIDE 1960s-90s STAMP SHOW & EXHIBITION ACCUMULATION WITH PRESENTATION BOOKS ......................................................................... $500-700 A number of boxes of envelopes and files containing covers with Show cancels, stamps, philatelic passports, literature and more from a variety of US and foreign stamp shows. We didn’t go through all the files, so there’s a good chance of finding some sleepers, especially in the presentation books. Some of the large files include: InterPhil ’76, Italia ’85, London Stamp Shows of 1980, 1990 & 2000, Ameripex ’86, plus World Columbian (1992) and many others. Some of the more interesting and valuable material includes a number of presentation books from various philatelic organizations, such as two different Temex ’61 presentation books with trial color proofs of the stamps issued in conjunction with the event, plus material from Sweden, Switzerland and others. Additional material includes a binder of 20+ BEP souvenir cards, more. Generally very fine throughout. Three boxes packed with estate balance lot of worldwide topical stamps, covers and FDCs. Noted concentrations of USA patriotic themes, various sports, Olympic Games, cartoon characters, California history & events, American Presidents, wildlife, others. A few cover albums with Fleetwood topical collections, otherwise mostly a loose jumble of covers, envelopes and glassines, with stamps, souvenir sheets, Cinderellas and covers. Covers are mostly cacheted FDCs but also plenty of special event or anniversary covers, some running back to the 1930s (noted 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Arbor Day and other early material). Plenty of modern as well with Comics series, Obama inaugural, dinosaurs. Bonus item: White Ace album with mint USA & UN collection, no real expensive items but nice selection of Fourth Bureaus and Airmails. Overall fine to very fine. 3365 / / / 1960s-2000s ITU & TELEPHONE COLLECTION .... $150-250 Two collections in two separate binders: (1) 1965 ITU Collection hinged on White Ace specialty pages with good range of singles, sets and S/S, Albania thru Yemen, plus a few hundred USED worldwide telephone related issues hinged on White Ace specialty blank album pages. Clean attractive material, fine to very fine. 3366 / 1934-65 TONGA ‘TIN CAN’ MAIL COVERS COLLECTION .......................................................... $1000-1500 Total of 40 Tin Can Mail covers, most from the 1930s, about a dozen from 1940s-60s. Registered covers, colorful frankings, various destinations, many USA, also Cook Islands, Fiji, England, others. Generally very fine. 3367 /S/ 1970s-90s AMERICAN TOPICAL ASSN ARCHIVES .................................................................................. $1000-1500 Incredible holding from the founder of the ATA. These are the correspondence files from the 1970s through early-1990s. A number of storage boxes with large envelopes where all the correspondence received from the various Philatelic Agencies and agents from around the world. Lots of MINT sets, sometimes in small presentation booklets, FDCs, some stationery, lots of literature, more. Material was put in large file folder as it was received, generally by month, sometimes two months per folder. We didn’t really go through this, so there’s plenty of potential for some finds. We did spot some 1970s China ROC, Papua New Guinea & other British Commonwealth countries, many others. Be sure to spend a little time with this. – WILDLIFE – 3362 / 1970s-80s WILDLIFE TOPICAL COVER COLLECTIONS (13-VOLS) ......................................... $300-400 Group of 13 cover albums with various selections of USA & Worldwide covers showing various Animals. Includes 7-volume set Flora & Fauna of the World by Fleetwood, set of 50 State Birds & Flowers on Fleetwood ‘proof cards,’ State Birds & Flowers on maximum cards by Calhoun Collectors Society, full panes of unissued Haiti Audubon stamps in souvenir album, collections of Waterbirds and Butterflies of the 50 States by Fleetwood, plus a few others. Nice selection, overall very fine. 3368 / – TOPICAL – 3363 / 1930s-2000s WORLDWIDE TOPICAL COVERS & STAMP COLLECTIONS .......................................... $500-700 Five large boxes with about 43 binders, albums or folios with worldwide topical stamps, special covers and First Day covers, more then 2,000 covers. Over half the material is from USA, with souvenir albums by Fleetwood, Postal Commemorative Society and the like. General topics found overall, with strength in British Royalty, Norman Rockwell, Civil War, USA Bicentennial, Space, 1992 Columbian Expo, Grand Prix racing, Christmas, Boy Scouts, Sir Rowland Hill, Wildlife and America the Beautiful. Includes Fleetwood’s Mint Stamps of the World groupings with flowers, animals, trains, buildings, birds and general topicals. Overall very fine.
