A PLAN FOR THE FUTURE Since its origin in 1987 , Orange County School of the Arts has positively impacted tens of thousands of students with its innovative educational programs and unparalleled learning environment . Each year , thousands of students apply for a very limited number of enrollment spots . With this incredible demand in mind , the leadership of OCSA developed a multi-year strategic vision and plan for its next stage of growth . The goal was to impact even more bright and talented student artists by providing the type of unique educational environment currently offered by OCSA at different sites and to other families throughout California . California School of the Arts was born of this vision and planning , founded to establish and operate high-achieving , comprehensive public charter arts schools , based on OCSA ’ s effective business and curriculum models .
OUR SAN GABRIEL VALLEY CAMPUS California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley ( CSArts- SGV ) is an expansion of the award-winning Orange County School of the Arts and the first regional campus to open in a network of public charter schools created by the California School of the Arts Foundation . Located in the city of Duarte , CSArts-SGV opened in August 2017 and currently serves approximately 1,200 students in grades 7-12 . CSArts-SGV is a tuition-free , donation-dependent school made possible through a unique public-private partnership with the Duarte Unified School District . While approximately 10 % of students reside in Duarte , CSArts- SGV draws students from more than 100 cities within and outside of the San Gabriel Valley , creating a diverse culture of academically and artistically focused students .
WHAT ’ S NEXT ?
The goal is to continue transforming lives by enabling even more students to receive the complete “ OCSA experience .” The OCSA leadership team is currently exploring other viable locations in California that could be ideal sites for opening additional California School of the Arts campuses .
