Why you should choose Enterprise:
Enterprise is an important part of the business sector and plays a key role in the UK’s global economic status. The role of entrepreneurs is to help create wealth for the nation and its citizens through the creation of enterprises that innovate and grow the economy. According to recent data, there are nearly six million such businesses in the UK, employing around 16.6 million people. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 99.9 per cent of the business population in the UK and account for three-fifths of the employment and around half of the turnover in the UK private sector, worth around £2.2 trillion. Study of this sector at Key Stage 4 will complement GCSE study through providing an opportunity for practical application alongside conceptual study. There are also strong opportunities for post-16 progression in this vital sector. This qualification is for learners interested in taking a hands-on course alongside their GCSEs that will offer them an insight into what it is like to work in the Enterprise sector.
Assessment:
Components 1&2 are assessed through an assessment task set by the exam board whereby there is a period of monitored preparation followed by a period of supervised write up. The first of these is completed in the Spring of Y10 and therefore it is essential that students who choose this course understand that they will be completing 30% of their grade in Y10. The second task is completed in the Autumn of Y11.
Component 3 is assessed through a terminal exam at the end of Y11 with your other GCSE subjects.
Additional Information: Vocational qualifications are recognised by employers, colleges, and universities. They provide a progression route to more advanced qualifications e. g., BTEC Nationals or A-Levels. Studying Enterprise will also help you develop skills in IT, numeracy & literacy, and research.
