The WJEC Eduqas Level 1 / 2 Award in Hospitality and Catering has been designed to develop in learners the knowledge and understanding related to a range of hospitality and catering providers ; how they operate and what they have to take into account to be successful .
By studying Hospitality and Catering learners will :
� Have the opportunity to learn about issues related to nutrition and food safety and how they affect successful hospitality and catering operations .
� Develop food preparation and cooking skills as well as transferable skills of problem solving , organisation and time management , planning and communication .
� Through the two units , gain an overview of the hospitality and catering industry and the type of job roles that may be available to assist them in making choices about progression .
The WJEC Level 1 / 2 Award in Hospitality and Catering is made up of two mandatory units : Unit 1 : The Hospitality and Catering Industry ( Examination – 40 % Summer Term )
Short and extended answer questions based around applied situations . Learners will be required to use stimulus material presented in different formats to respond to questions .
Unit 2 : Hospitality and Catering in Action ( Controlled Assessment – 60 %)
The applied purpose of this unit is for learners to safely plan , prepare , cook and present nutritional dishes .
Your final mark will be made up of a combination of 60 % coursework and a final exam in the summer exam period contributing towards 40 % of the awarded grade awarded . Learners must complete both units .
