The Red Dot honours came after the device earned a CES 2021 Innovation Award , recognizing outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products .
The ZEISS UVClean can disinfect six to 10 frames in 40 seconds . Using four germicidal UVC bulbs that bathe each pair of eyeglasses in powerful UV light , the device kills up to 99.5 per cent of common viruses and bacteria on the surface of eyeglasses .
The product was designed to enable eye care practices to spend less time and resources cleaning and more time engaging with patients .
Also at the Red Dot event , Tura Inc .’ s MINI Eyewear style 743012 , in colour 60 , received an award for product design , while MODO ’ s R 1000 + Titanium frames earned a Red Dot award for outstanding design quality . OP
