Drawn to optometry

You never know where life will lead you.
That’s what optometrist Kristie Drca learned on her
path into vision care where she now gives patients the
gift of sight at Kniaziew Optometry in the small town
of Leamington, Ont.
“I was always interested in science from a young age,”
recalls Drca. “Which led me on an educational journey
towards health care.”
Drca grew up never needing glasses, yet she found
herself drawn to the idea of a career in eye care during
her post-secondary career.

“I still needed my eyes to be healthy and my vision was
such an essential part of my day. Providing vision and
eye health care was a way that I could have an impact
on essentially anyone’s life. Between preventative care,
refractive error correction, managing amblyopia or low
vision and ocular disease treatment – everyone could
benefit from a trip to the optometrist.”
When it comes to her career, there are two things Drca
enjoys the most.
