Specialist Training
The next step is the modularised Air & Space Operations Specialist Course ( ASOSC ) at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire .
You will be taught the basic ASOS Air Awareness theory . You will then complete either the Air Defence , Air Traffic or Operations Specialist module required to operate at your first frontline Unit .
On successful completion of the course you will be promoted to Air Specialist ( Class 2 ), AS ( 2 ) # and receive your first assignment .
During your basic specialisation training , you will be offered the opportunity to undertake a minimum Level 2 civilian accredited qualification . Within this apprenticeship your training will focus on the professional elements of Operations Specialist
Your First Tour
This is likely to be in the core roles of airspace monitoring at the Control and Reporting Centre , Air Traffic Control , Station Operations or Area Radar .
During this assignment there may be opportunities to move to another Employment Area on unit for your personal and professional development .
